About OSRA

OSRA is a professional organization chartered for the purpose of pursuing research and education in the area of information technology and end-user information systems. OSRA provides a platform for dedicated professionals to meet and exchange ideas in the pursuit of excellence.

Quarterly publication included with membership and designed to update members concerning OSRA activities, research in progress and announcements of upcoming events of interest.

JOURNAL

Biannual publications included with membership. Contains refereed articles on significant research and projects in areas of information systems. Also includes a practical application section, "Making a Difference," of interest to systems professionals and educators.

RESEARCH CONFERENCE

Annual event attracting experts in the field of information technology and end-user information systems, business education, corporate training, and curriculum development for the purpose of sharing research results and discussing issues related to educational and corporate activities.

MODEL CURRICULUM IN ORGANIZATIONAL AND END-USER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

An ongoing effort to develop, revise and improve the curricula supporting the education of professionals in the field of information technology and end-user information systems.

MINI GRANTS

Seed money available with initial costs of research in the area of information technology and end-user information systems. Business professionals, faculty, and graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals.

AWARDS RECOGNITION

Awarded for outstanding research in the field of information technology and end-user information systems and significant contribution to the annual conference through the presentation of a paper.

GOALS

Promote and market OSRA as an organization and organizational and end-user information systems (OEIS) as a field
Promote quality research and expansion of the organizational and end-user information systems (OEIS) common body of knowledge
Ensure relevancy of the OSRA curriculum
Create alliances between OSRA and the IS community (both business and academic)
Strengthen OSRA's business/academic linkages.
Promote quality undergraduate and graduate programs
Build a strong financial foundation

STRUCTURE

Chartered in 1982, OSRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to research and education in information technology and end-user information systems and governed by a member-elected Executive Board. The OSRA consitution specifies that the Board be representative of the four major membership categories:

EDUCATORS in the field of information technology and end-user information systems.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS in the area of information technology and end-user information systems.
STUDENTS interested in information technology and end- user information systems.
OTHERS interested in the results of research on information technologies for the desktop and the end-user environment.

The Executive Board consists of eight elected officers:

President
Executive Vice President
Vice President, Professional Studies
Vice President, Membership
Vice President, Research
Vice President, Publications
Secretary/Historian
Treasurer.

The Board also includes Members-at-Large appointed by the President:

One Member-at-Large, Research
One Member-at-Large, Conferences
Two Members-at-Large, Business Associates

and other members necessary to maintain representation. An Executive Director, appointed by the Executive Board, is also a non-voting member of the Board.
